I was somewhat sad to hear about Kodak’s Chapter 11. Could it be the end for Kodak? Once a mighty player in the photography world with inspiring products such as the Brownie and Instamatic, now a sinking ship in the digital industry. But lets not forget: the photography community owes a lot to Kodak: Paving the way for the cost effective camera for the mass market, amazing advancements with the color Kodachrome film (see image -taken from my personal collection: Holiday magazine June 1949), and the simple, yet beautiful functionalist industrial design of products, by designers such as Kenneth Grange, are just a handful of the company’s innovations and achievements.

I’ve Just discovered this amazing collection of travel posters archived by Boston Public Library’s Print Department
Finally replaced my desk phone for the partially sighted with this old green beauty. Almost impossible to use, and insanely annoying when it rings. This phone goes completely against my beliefs in terms of functionalist industrial design, but is an aesthetic paper weight non the less.
