I listened to The Doors for the first time in ages this morning. Whilst listening to “The End” I had a flashback. Surprisingly not to some kind of fantasy, cliché Vietnam war scenario, but instead of a time when I was in a bar in Greymouth, New Zealand and decided to put this song on the duke box, mostly because I knew it was 11mins 44 seconds long, and I wanted to get my moneys worth. About ten minutes into the song, my choice nearly resulted in a bar brawl. Retrospectively, I have no regrets of this choice.
